(LOT #208) 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter John L. Sullivan (Boxing) PSA 2

In 1887 Allen & Ginter issued their first series of tobacco portrait cards.  The set of 50 was entitled "The World's Champions", and distributed nationally.  Later, when cataloged the series became designated N28.  These include baseball players, wrestlers, oarsmen, boxers, rifle shooters, billiard and pool players.  Here a PSA 2 example of the key boxer in the set - John L Sullivan.  The card front grades VG/EX to EX, but the back exhibits a few spots of paper loss.  N28's have strong graphics and this John L Sullivan card has great eye appeal.
